The Buffalo Bills are less than one week away from starting their 2026 season on the road against the Houston Texans. Both teams are going into the season expecting to compete for a playoff spot in the AFC and hopefully make a run to the AFC Championship. Bills Rookie Punished By The NFL In Eye Opening Statement
Over the weekend, the NFL punished Bills rookie safety Jalon Kilgore along with four other players. His fine totaled $5,560, a modest amount in terms of NFL fines, but it could have been much higher. All NFL fines are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation.
During the Bills’ preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the infraction occurred in the second quarter. In the final seconds of the half, Kilgore committed an unnecessary roughness infraction (illegal use of the helmet).

In the 2026 NFL Draft, Kilgore was selected 167th overall by the Bills.
The NFL penalizes players every week for breaking certain rules. In a statement, the league said that the punishments are intended to protect players from unnecessary risks, promote player safety, and promote sportsmanship and respect among teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and fans.
