Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia has been nominated for the Best Men’s Goalkeeper prize at the 2026 Ballon d’Or awards after an impressive season at the Camp Nou.
The stopper is in contention after playing a starring role for Barcelona in his debut season for the club after moving from city rivals Espanyol.
Garcia played a key part in Barcelona’s title win and ended the season by winning [La Liga’s Zamora Trophy](/barcelona-la-liga/121415/joan-garcia-wins-zamora-trophy-in-his-first-season-at-barcelona) which is handed out to the goalkeeper with the lowest “goals-to-games” ratio.
The Barca stopper conceded only 21 goals in 30 games to finish top of the pile.
Garcia is nominated for the prize along with Thibaut Courtois, Gregor Kobel, Emiliano Martínez, Édouard Mendy, David Raya, Matvey Safonov, Unai Simon, Yassine Bounou and Cape Verde stopper Vozinha.
