Liverpool play their first UEFA Champions League game of the new season tomorrow when they host Atletico Madrid at Anfield.
The Reds are coming on the back of a morale-boosting 2-0 away win against Ipswich Town in the Premier League and will look to build on it with a positive display in Europe.
Alexis Mac Allister was one of Liverpool’s best players in their previous game and looks set to retain his spot tomorrow.
And now, ahead of the game, the Argentine has made a brutally honest confession about his Liverpool future.

“Two more years on your deal. Can it change? Maybe, I don’t know,” said Mac Allister at a pre-match press conference.
“It is going to depend on how I perform this year. It’s their [the club] right to make a decision. But fans don’t need to worry as I’ll give 100% and maybe they change their minds.
“A reason? Not really, there was no direct conversation with me; it was with my agent. I don’t want to say things they never said, but what I got from my agent is they weren’t in a position to renew me.
Alexis MacAllister says he was told by Liverpool last season that "the club was not in a position to offer me a new contract which makes me very, very sad." He said he had options to leave in the summer.

“It’s really sad, we won the Premier League together and went through difficult times together and I will always give my best. We will see what happens but of course it makes me sad.”
You have to feel for Macca here as it feels like he genuinely loves the club and wants to stay. And to be fair to him, he wasn’t at his best last season, but since joining from Brighton, he has been one of Liverpool’s most important players and also impressed for Argentina in that period.
Maybe he will endear himself to Andoni Iraola and earn himself a new contract between now and the end of the season.
