Our Seattle Seahawks ended up being a low-key/high-key dominant champion last season on their way to a convincing victory in the Super Bowl and their second Lombardi Trophy. This season, they return essentially the entire squad, save for a few depth pieces, and their starting running back, of course. What that means for our squad, we won’t know for several weeks. But, Wednesday will be a good indicator as to what and how this team will operate in 2026. New offense, same D (but, with some adjustments for injuries and scheme), and a special teams unit that once again can be truly special. How will it all end up coming together? Are you thinking title or bust for the ‘Hawks? Or were they just lucky last year? Are the Los Angeles Rams really that much better than our team? Or is Vegas hung up on a top-heavy Rams roster that becomes highly questionable if a few of their older stars go down with injury? Will any team outside of the NFC West challenge the Seahawks? Depth - 2026 vs. 2025
While the Hawks earned everything they got last year, there can be no denying that on a whole we benefitted from having fewer long term injuries among our top players than other contenders did. Plus, the team ended up being very deep, with an extra NFL caliber starter to fill in at basically every position group:
Love/Bryant + Okada
Spoon/Woolen + Jobe
EJ/Thomas + Knight
K9 + Charbonnet
and so on...
We had starters miss games at every one of those spots and barely missed a beat due to depth.
Of course going into the season we didn't know for sure that would be the case. So while this year, due in large part to injuries, we already feel a lot thinner, hopefully there will be folks who truly step up.
So, the question is:
Who among the non-starters do people think have the capability to step in and truly operate at at a super bowl contender starter level this coming year? Any of the CBs? Safeties? Other positions?
Bonus, super naive question from me:
With Safety being a position of concern, are there ANY sets or situations where Mike and Aden can all three of Jones, Thomas, and Knight onto the field at once? Or, are LB just too much of a liability in deep coverage for that?
