Liverpool were expected to sign a midfielder during the summer transfer window as they struggled a lot in that part of the pitch under Arne Slot.
However, that wasn’t to be the case as they decided to focus on strengthening their defence and attack instead.
To make matters worse, Curtis Jones departed the club without a replacement, leaving them worse off than what was the case last summer.
And now, Alexis Mac Allister has also confirmed that he could have left the club if he wanted to.

Speaking at a press conference, Mac Allister first claimed Liverpool told him his deal won’t be renewed, adding that he will remain committed to the club until he leaves.
The Argentine also confirmed that he had offers to leave but wanted to remain at Anfield, adding that Liverpool is the ‘right club’ for him.
“Because this is the right club. I have said before I love being here and this is something special and if I feel we can be successful, I want to win trophies; we have the right players and mentality.”

“That doesn’t happen to me. I realise I am at an amazing club and this city is very special.”
Mac Allister’s contract expires in the summer of 2028, so if he doesn’t get a new deal before the conclusion of the current season, Liverpool could well offload him in 2027.
