Teenage Nigerian midfielder bids farewell to Man City after eight years ahead of Man Utd transfer
Teenage Nigerian midfielder David Eze has taken to social media to confirm that he has ended an eight-year association with Manchester City.
The 2010-born midfielder has already agreed to join City rivals Manchester United, according to youth team expert The Talent Hunter, with only official confirmation of the deal pending.
Eze attracted interest from several other Category One academies but has opted to continue his development with Manchester United.
Born in March 2010, he is expected to join United on a scholarship deal and feature for the club’s U18 team, while remaining eligible to represent the U21s and senior side.
As per Premier League rules, all players in their U17 year are required to start this season on a scholarship agreement, before they are permitted to sign a first professional football contract on or after their 17th birthday.
Reflecting on his time at Manchester City, Eze expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to his development over the past eight years.
"After 8 unforgettable years, I have decided to leave Manchester City and begin a new chapter," he wrote on Instagram.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities, challenges, and memories that have shaped both my career and me as a person.
"Thank you to the coaches and staff I’ve had the privilege of working alongside and for all the support throughout the years."
Eze has represented England's Young Lions at U15 and U16 level.
