Following another stellar 2026 for both Manchester City and particularly Norway at the FIFA World Cup in North America, Erling Haaland has been recognised with a nomination for the Men's Ballon d'Or - his sixth nomination in his career to date.

Following his performances for both Manchester City and Spain, as well as FC Barcelona having joined the La Liga giants during the recent summer transfer window, Rodri has also been nominated for the award following his previous success in winning the prize in 2024.

Why Erling Haaland has been nominated

Across the course of the 2025/26 club campaign, Erling Haaland recorded a staggering haul of 52 goals with a further nine assists - with 27 of those goals coming in the Premier League alone en route to yet another Golden Boot award in the competition.

As part of that haul in front of goal, Erling Haaland was once again instrumental in bringing silverware to the Etihad Stadium, winning both the Carabao Cup ahead of Arsenal and FA Cup ahead of Chelsea during Pep Guardiola's final season at the club.

Heading over to North America for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Haaland was thrust to the very pinnacle of global football audiences, making a staggering impact for Norway by scoring seven times en route to the quarter-finals for the first time in the country's history.

Rodri's latest Ballon d'Or nomination detailed

Bringing an end to a truly legendary Manchester City career by joining FC Barcelona earlier this summer, Rodri's final year of seven at the Etihad Stadium has once again been recognised.

The Spain international captain was not only a big part of the City squad that won both domestic cups last season, but also went on to star at the FIFA World Cup and lift the major tournament's trophy for his country after victory over Argentina in the Final.
