Chelsea take on Leeds in the Carabao Cup third-round and new manager Xabi Alonso is already under pressure from the Stamford Bridge faithful.
Despite picking up six points from their first two Premier League games and beating Luton 2-0 in the Carabao Cup second-round, Alonso’s men have been far from convincing so far this season.
The Blues beat Fulham and Brighton by a solitary goal and conceded five goals in the process. They shipped another two goals at the Emirates Stadium at the weekend when losing the big London derby 2-1 against title rivals Arsenal.
Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro have each hit two goals in three Premier League appearances but their Spanish manager is going to rest some of his star names against Leeds. Chelsea fans will get the chance to see some new signings or squad players in action, with Danny Welbeck set to lead the line.
Daniel Farke’s Leeds side have opened their Premier League campaign unbeaten and sit in the top half of the table. They represent a real live banana skin for Chelsea, having beaten Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the last round of the Carabao Cup.
