Jurrien Timber has been included in Arsenal’s squad to face Napoli in the UEFA Champions League. The Gunners open their campaign in Italy, looking to kickstart a run that they will hope will take them one step further than the final against PSG, which was lost last season.

The Dutchman has been missing throughout the summer and the start of the new season after undergoing a procedure on his groin this summer. Despite making the Champions League final, he was not fit enough to take part in the World Cup.

Speaking ahead of the win over Chelsea, Mikel Arteta had confirmed that the player was heading in a positive direction. The Spaniard was due to face the press ahead of the clash but due to flight issues in London, the club was delayed into the city and the press conference was cancelled.

“Yeah, he's in really good condition at the moment,” Arteta said. “As I said, he's been now a few weeks on the pitch and he's been training with us now, so he's in a good place.”

William Saliba remains out of the game with a long-term injury. Cristhian Mosquera is another who will miss the game due to the hamstring issue he suffered against Aston Villa that caused him to miss the London derby win at the weekend.

Illan Meslier and Marli Salmon have, however, been added to the group. Whether the delayed arrival will affect the squad’s preparations and scheduled routine remains to be seen.
