The Denver Nuggets have had a disappointing offseason, recently signing and trading Peyton Watson to the Cleveland Cavs in a deal that brought back future draft compensation. The Nuggets seem poised to bring back mostly the same core of players that exited in the first round against the Minnesota Timberwolves last season in embarrassing fashion.
Now, more information is coming to light on another player that opposing teams had interest in on the Nuggets' roster this summer: Cam Johnson.
“Hoping the Nuggets were desperate to avoid the second apron, those teams asked Denver to give up draft picks along with Johnson, multiple sources said,” reported Bennett Durando of The Denver Post. “They also received at least one legitimately good offer for the 30-year-old wing, according to a league source. They still turned it down, viewing Johnson as an impactful starter.”

Klay Thompson's absurd 37-point quarter in 2015 came against which team?
Sacramento Kings
Johnson was acquired by Denver from the Brooklyn Nets last summer in exchange for Michael Porter Jr. after the latter's rough playoff run that season. Johnson got off to a rough start to his Nuggets tenure before turning things around down the stretch, ultimately finishing well over 40 percent from beyond the arc for the season, in addition to providing serviceable defense and a savvy veteran presence.
As Durando noted, the Nuggets found themselves in dire financial straits this offseason, which certainly played a role in their decision to trade Watson and not get any players in return.
While having Nikola Jokic on the roster seemingly makes quite a bit possible, it's tough to imagine the Nuggets leveling up to the same plane as the San Antonio Spurs or Oklahoma City Thunder out West with this current roster.
