The Arizona Cardinals are making a big move ahead of Week 1 of the NFL season. Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love is getting listed as the no. 2 running back on the depth chart, per ESPN.

“On the Cardinals’ unofficial depth chart ahead of Sunday’s regular-season opener vs. the Chargers, Tyler Allgeier is listed as RB1 and rookie Jeremiyah Love is listed as RB2,” Adam Schefter reported on X.

Love was selected third overall in the 2026 NFL Draft. He is expected to have his carries managed closely.

“I do know this: not one running back can take all 65 snaps,” Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur said during training camp, per the team. “We've seen that story when guys are a little bit overloaded, and whether it hurts them in one year.

“I think over time, one year, two years, whatever it is, be able to split those guys up, one, to keep them fresh throughout that game, but two, to keep them as healthy as they can for 17 games is the appropriate way to go.”

Love played his college football at Notre Dame. Arizona plays the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, to open their 2026 season. During the 2025 campaign, Arizona finished the year with a 3-14 record.
