Celtics Made Important Derrick White Decision After Jaylen Brown Trade image

The Boston Celtics weren't interested in trading Derrick White after the Jaylen Brown deal.
In a new report for Heavy, NBA insider Sean Deveney revealed that the Celtics received calls from teams about White after trading Brown.
The Celtics sent a clear message.
“They got calls," a Western Conference executive told Deveney about White. "You had to call to see if there was something there that could be done with one of their guys. You just did not know if it was going to be a whole fire sale thing, but they let it be known pretty quickly it wasn’t. The guy you’re going to go for, that everyone had their eye on, was Derrick White because of the contract and the down year, and maybe you can lowball a bit.
“But the Celtics were not entertaining anything like that. It’s not just hanging up the phone; everyone listens. But it is just not where they were at. He is a very popular guy on that team, and in that front office, they were not going to move him.”

White averaged 16.5 points, 5.4 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.1 steals per game last season. He finished sixth in Defensive Player of the Year voting and earned his first career All-Defensive First Team selection.
That was the good. The bad: White had arguably the worst shooting season of his career. He shot 39.4 percent from the field and a more troubling 32.7 percent from 3-point range.
It makes sense that teams would try to buy low on White. If his 3-point shot returns to form, he's the type of player who fits anywhere.
White has three years remaining on his current contract. He'll make $30.3 million in 2026-27 and $32.6 million in 2027-28. He then has a $34.8 million player option for the 2028-29 season.
Deveney made it clear that his report doesn't mean the Celtics won't trade White in the future, but for now, he doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
