With a brace from Haaland, Manchester City defeat Porto on their home turf in the Champions League

Porto, Portugal – Manchester City returned with a valuable victory from the “Dragão” stadium, after defeating their Portuguese host Porto by two goals to nil, in the match that brought the two teams together on Tuesday evening as part of the first round of the league stage of the Champions League.
The first half ended goalless, before Manchester City managed to open the scoring at the start of the second half, specifically in the 47th minute, when Erling Haaland followed up a cross from Enzo Fernandez with a header from inside the penalty area, putting it into the Portuguese team’s net.

The Norwegian striker continued his brilliance during the match, and managed to double his team’s lead in the first minute of stoppage time, after receiving a cross from Rayan Ait-Nouri inside the penalty area, to shoot the ball directly into Porto’s goal.

The home side tried to get back into the game during the remaining minutes, but Manchester City’s defense kept a clean sheet, securing an important away victory for the English team.
With this victory, Manchester City earned their first 3 points in the league stage of the Champions League, while Porto began their European campaign without any points.
