The Green Bay Packers enter the 2026 regular season with a projected win total of 10.5, a strong sign that oddsmakers expect them to bounce back from last season’s disappointing finish. Green Bay lost five straight games to close the year, including two losses to their in-division rival the Chicago Bears, but the team remains one of the NFC’s more established playoff contenders under Matt LaFleur.

The Packers will have plenty of opportunities to prove they belong in those playoff conversations. Green Bay has games against the Bills, Patriots, Rams, and Cowboys while navigating a competitive NFC North featuring the Bears, Lions, and Vikings. With several difficult stretches spread throughout the schedule, the Packers’ season can be broken down into four distinct sections, each presenting its own challenges and opportunities.
Weeks 1-6: Brutal Opening Stretch
The Packers will have little time to ease into the 2026 season. They open with two road games against the Vikings and Jets before returning to Lambeau Field for their Week 3 home opener against the Falcons on a Thursday night. That makes for a challenging start to the season, and Green Bay is right back on the road in Week 4 against the Buccaneers.
Weeks 5 and 6 could be where the season really begins to take shape. The Packers face the Bears before hosting the Cowboys, which sets them up for two significant NFC matchups in consecutive weeks. Both could have major implications later in the season when playoff seeding and the NFC North race are decided. The potential return of Micah Parsons could be one of the biggest storylines of this stretch. If his recovery stays on track, he is expected to return around Week 6. Getting Parsons back would give Green Bay a major defensive boost just as the schedule begins to feature some of its most important NFC opponents.
With half of their first six games on the road and against a handful of real contenders, a 4-2 record would be an excellent outcome. Without Parsons generating pressure, however, Green Bay could be looking at a 3-3 or 2-4 record heading into Week 7. Avoiding an early hole will be critical if the Packers want to avoid another seventh-seed finish and put themselves in position for a deeper playoff run.

Weeks 7-10: Midseason Gauntlet
The schedule does not exactly ease up in Weeks 7 through 10. Green Bay travels to Detroit to face the Lions in Week 7 before returning home to host the Panthers. The Packers then head to Foxborough to take on the Patriots in Week 9 before returning to Lambeau to face the Vikings.
The Lions and Vikings are the obvious headliners. Green Bay obviously cannot afford to give away divisional games. The Panthers should provide a more favorable matchup on paper, but midseason football rarely goes according to plan. A November trip to Foxborough is never easy either, especially against a Patriots team that reached the Super Bowl last season and added star receiver A.J. Brown this offseason.
This is also the point of the season when injuries and accumulated wear and tear can become vital factors. Fortunately for Green Bay, Parsons should be fully integrated into the defense by this point, assuming his recovery stays on track. His presence will be especially important against the Lions and Vikings. Packers fans should also keep a close eye on the offensive line and secondary, two position groups that will reveal how healthy their roster really is.
If Green Bay can navigate this stretch with a winning record, the Packers should enter their Week 11 bye in a strong position. The timing of that bye week could not be better, as it affords the Packers a chance to recover, regroup, and get reinvigorated for their final stretch of regular-season games.
Weeks 11-14: Rest, then a Huge Test
The Week 11 bye could be one of the most important weeks of the Packers’ season. By this point, Green Bay will have played ten games and dealt with the inevitable injuries and fatigue that come with a full NFL season. The extra rest will surely be combined with extra preparation, as the Packers come out of the bye to play two consecutive road games against the Rams and Saints.
The Rams game comes on a Wednesday, but Green Bay gets ten days between its Week 10 game and that matchup, including the bye. That unusual schedule should give the Packers’ coaching staff plenty of time to prepare for the scariest defensive line in football that features both Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald.
Then comes the real test. Green Bay hosts the Bills in a Sunday night primetime matchup in Week 14. Buffalo should provide one of the toughest challenges on the schedule, and a win at Lambeau could serve as a major statement heading into the final month of the season. The Packers should have their healthiest roster of the season coming out of the bye, as long as their star players stay healthy. If they can take advantage of that health and extra preparation time, Weeks 11 through 14 could set them up for a strong finish.
Weeks 15-18: The Finish Line
The Packers’ final four games could determine how the 2026 season is ultimately remembered. Week 15 brings the Dolphins to Lambeau, which offers Green Bay what should be one of its more manageable matchups before the schedule gets significantly more important.
Green Bay travels to Chicago in Week 16 for another pivotal divisional matchup before returning home for two consecutive games against the Texans and Lions. While the Texans game could be important for playoff positioning, everything could come down to the regular-season finale.
Week 18 could be everything. If the Packers and Lions are battling for the NFC North, their final matchup could decide the division outright. Even if the division is already settled, the game could have major implications for playoff seeding. Green Bay could enter the final week with very little room for error, especially considering oddsmakers have the Lions favored to win the division, largely because of their favorable schedule.
For a Packers team looking to finally escape the NFC’s seventh seed, there may not be a better opportunity to make a statement than against one of their biggest divisional rivals with everything on the line.
