Giannis Antetokounmpo has found a new place to call home in Miami. The new Miami Heat star spent $13.5 million on an approximately 12,000-square-foot mansion in Pinecrest, South Florida, which is a neighborhood where several Heat stars have lived in the past.
The listing states it is a non-waterfront property with eight bedrooms, ten bathrooms, two half-bathrooms, a media room, a pool and Jacuzzi, and a guest house. The property is located west of Gables by the Sea and north of Deering Bay.
In a blockbuster trade that also included Bobby Portis, the NBA champion joined the Miami Heat this summer. Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, and Kasparas Jakučionis joined the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Antetokounmpo and Portis leaving the team.
According to property records, a company connected to the Greek NBA star paid $13.5 million for the mansion in Pinecrest. Antetokounmpo purchased the Pinecrest mansion through a company connected to his New York lawyers that shares the name of his other businesses.
The house was newly finished and sits on slightly more than an acre of land. A company led by Fouad Kraishan sold the property. Juan Annicchiarico of JCAS Realty represented the seller.
The house was listed for $16.3 million, so Giannis Antetokounmpo seems to have saved $2.8 million on the deal. Ignacio Permuy of Permuy Architecture, located in Coral Gables, created the design.
According to CoStar’s initial report, Antetokounmpo’s family office has spent over $69 million on multifamily properties in Wisconsin, Brooklyn, and Chicago in the past year.
In part because of the larger lots that provide more privacy and the proximity to private schools, Pinecrest and the surrounding areas, including South Miami, have long been home to athletes and celebrities.
On the day that his trade was completed in July, Tyler Herro, a former member of the Miami Heat, listed his Pinecrest mansion across the street from Antetokounmpo’s for almost $12 million. In late 2022, he purchased the property for $10.5 million.
Jeff Green, a former Houston Rockets player, sold his Pinecrest mansion at 9500 Southwest 61st Court for $15.5 million in April.
Jimmy Butler, a former member of the Heat, sold his 6,148-square-foot, six-bedroom home close to Coral Gables and South Miami for $8.3 million two years ago.
Dion Waiters, another former Heat player, sold his Pinecrest house in the same year.
Beyond the basketball court, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s relocation to Miami has already taken him into one of the most upscale communities in South Florida. He is one of several current and former Heat players who have lived in Pinecrest thanks to his $13.5 million mansion.
The Greek superstar seems to be building his life off the court and embracing his new surroundings in style as he gets ready for a new chapter of his career in his first season in Miami.
