While the Los Angeles Clippers aren’t yet ready to finalize the trade of Kawhi Leonard, he certainly seems ready to move on.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, Kawhi Leonard is currently in Miami with various Raptors players.
“Kawhi Leonard, sources say, is in Miami among an organized minicamp of Raptors players. Toronto is waiting for Los Angeles to move forward with the agreed-upon trade that Leonard and the Raptors expect to be completed.” Fischer reported on Twitter.
Fischer made it clear that “Leonard is not currently working out alongside other players, he is specifically doing individual workouts, but he is in Miami with Toronto Raptors players in a non-team official minicamp”
Brandon Ingram is also reportedly working out at the Los Angeles Clippers facility every day. Everyone involved in the trade is moving forward with the expectation that the deal will soon be finalized.

The Raptors and Clippers originally agreed to a deal to send Kawhi Leonard back to Toronto in exchange for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, second-round picks in 2030 and 2033, and a first-round pick swap in 2027. However the deal was put on hold pending the results of the investigation into the Clippers and Leonard’s potential salary cap circumvention scheme.
Now that the investigation has been completed, and Leonard got off relatively scot-free, the expectation is that the trade will be finalized shortly. Fischer reported that the primary reason the trade hasn’t been finalized is due to the fact that the Clippers are restructuring their front office following suspensions to owner Steve Ballmer and president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank.
The Raptors are set to begin training camp on September 28, just under three weeks away. The Raptors would obviously prefer that the trade is finalized before then, and all indications point to that being the case.
