The summer window in Europe is shut, but the work doesn’t stop elsewhere. Saudi Pro League clubs have now seen their window shut, which leaves Premier League players looking for moves elsewhere, such as Richarlison with dwindling options, while the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham start working on target for January.
The Gunners have put a frustrating summer behind them, with a fast start to the season despite missing out on top targets, and are expected to back in for at least two in January in Julian Alvarez and Eli Junior Kroupi. Mylo Bernard has been announced. Chelsea did land one of those Gunners targets, in Morgan Rogers, but failed to sign a replacement for Enzo Fernandez. Chelsea are now again being linked with Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, along with the €100million-rated Atletico Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios.
Manchester United were also left wanting after the transfer window after missing out on Lewis Hall, and a fresh approach is January would not be a surprise amid reported interest in Newcastle team-mate Malick Thiaw. They have poached 16-year-old star Isaac Konde from Liverpool. Tottenham will be happy with their business, but, with Richarlison being pushed out, Spurs could also reignite their interest in Junior Kroupi when the transfer window reopens in less than four months. Richarlison running out of options for Tottenham exit
Tottenham and forward Richarlison are running out of options for an amicable conclusion to a messy transfer saga.
With the windows in Turkey and Saudi Arabia shut, Richarlison faces the prospect of not being able to play competitively until January after De Zerbi left the 29-year-old out of the Premier League squad list in favour of injured duo Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons.
Brazil
A return back to Brazil has been an option throughout Richarlison’s four-year spell at Spurs and earlier in 2026 it was reported a verbal agreement had been reached with Flamengo.
There were subsequently no developments, but Richarlison started out in his homeland with America Mineiro and Fluminense and in recent days Vasco da Gama fans have started a campaign to sign the Brazil international.
If Richarlison wants to avoid sitting on the sidelines for the next four months, a short-term loan back to any Serie A club in Brazil could be a solution.
Portugal
Richarlison’s old manager Marco Silva took charge of Benfica this summer and continues to hold a close relationship with the Tottenham forward.
The pair shared a warm embrace after Spurs lost 2-1 at Fulham in March and Silva said afterwards: “He was a special player for me. I brought him to this country and after for the second club as well. He’s going to be always special.”
Whilst the Portuguese transfer window does not close until September 15, Benfica already signed forward Jhon Duran this summer and Silva has other attacking options which may rule out a reunion with his old boss.
Elsewhere?
The two other realistic options for Richarlison to resume his career elsewhere would be to secure moves to Russia or Mexico where clubs can continue to sign players until Thursday and Friday of this week respectively.
If Richarlison decides none of the aforementioned options are viable, his only chance of minutes until January could be with Spurs’ Under-21s.
Benzema to the Premier League?
Karim Benzema is a free agent after leaving Al-Hilal and reports claim he could attract interest from Premier League clubs.
However, talkSPORT claim teams in Saudi Arabia and Turkey are also tracking the former Real Madrid striker.
Martial decision
Anthony Martial has rejected two contract offers from clubs in Ligue 1.
The striker, presently a free agent, is reported by Foot Mercato to be waiting for the right project to commit himself to.
The 30-year-old has also been linked with Everton.
Ballon d'Or shortlist
Three Arsenal players have been named on the Ballon d'Or shortlist.
The strong Arsenal contingent comes as no surprise after the club ended their 22-year wait to become Premier League champions again.
Mikel Arteta's side also made it to the Champions League final, where they were beaten on penalties by Paris Saint-Germain.
Declan Rice and William Saliba have made the 30-man shortlist, while Gabriel is nominated for the first time.

Arsenal confirm signing
Arsenal have completed the signing of Mylo Bernard, with the striker joining as a first-year scholar.
A statement reads: “Mylo has also signed a pre-contract agreement with the club that will lead to him signing professional terms when he turns 17.
“Mylo joins us from Crystal Palace, where he has flourished as a striker, netting more than 40 goals in the academy in 2025/26.
“Stepping up above his age category, the striker netted six times in the U18 Premier League last season.
“As well as shining at club level, the forward has also been called up by England under-16s, scoring four times in just eight games at that age group.”
Mac Allister hits out at Liverpool over contract dispute
Alexis Mac Allister has revealed in a bombshell press conference he is yet to receive an offer for a new Liverpool contract, a situation he says has left him “very, very sad.”
The Argentine is into the last two years of his deal, and has been made to watch as the club handed Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai bumper new deals earlier this summer.
He confirmed his agent has held talks with the club and simply been told they are unable to offer a new deal at the moment.
Meeting the press at Kirkby before facing Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Mac Allister made clear he could have pushed to leave the club this summer, but that he remains committed to the Reds.
“There was a chance (I could leave in the summer) as everyone knows. I received the news the club had made a decision not to offer me a new contract, which of course makes me very, very sad.”

Newcastle transfer chief makes bold claim over Arsenal fee for Bruno Guimaraes
Newcastle sporting director Ross Wilson insists he is satisfied with the fee they commanded from Arsenal to sell Bruno Guimaraes, despite conceding the player’s exit was disappointing.
Guimaraes joined the Gunners in a £75m transfer earlier this summer after protracted talks between the two clubs, which saw the Magpies reject multiple offers.
Newcastle were not keen to sanction Guimaraes’ exit. The player was a fan favourite on Tyneside, but reportedly pushed for the move once Arsenal made their interest known.
And Wilson has now revealed that while it hurt to see Guimaraes leave, the financial windfall rather softened the blow.
“We did not want to lose Bruno Guimaraes,” he confirmed to Sky Sports.
“That was really disappointing that we got to that place in the end, albeit we were happy where we got to in terms of numbers (the fee).”
Liverpool watch Lamine Camara after Chelsea transfer collapse
Liverpool could yet rival Chelsea for the signing of Lamine Camara.
The Senegal midfielder looked poised to move to Stamford Bridge on Deadline Day last week in a £47m deal, only for Monaco to controversially pull the plug at the 11th hour.
Camara remained at the Stade Louis II, though is widely expected to depart when the transfer window re-opens for business in January.
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool and Chelsea both sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old in action during Monaco’s shock 2-1 win away at reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 on Friday night.
Arsenal and Manchester City also reportedly had a presence at the game.
Man Utd and Liverpool make contact over Mateus Mane
Manchester United and Liverpool look to be battling for the signing of Mateus Mane.
The Portuguese forward, 18, is on the radar of several Premier League clubs after impressing for Wolves.
According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Manchester United and Liverpool have both already made direct contact over Mane, who is reportedly also of interest to Arsenal and Manchester City, as well as some top clubs back in Portugal.
Arsenal eye Kevin Schade deal
Arsenal are interested in a move for Brentford forward Kevin Schade, reports claim.
The German international has impressed for the Bees since joining from Freiburg - initially on loan - in 2023, scoring 23 goals in 117 total appearances across all competitions.
Reigning Premier League champions Arsenal are said to be among the teams now interested in Schade as they look to further upgrade their attacking options under Mikel Arteta.
However, according to TEAMtalk, Brentford are preparing a bumper new contract offer for the 24-year-old as they look to ward off those suitors and keep him in west London.
Schade’s current deal at the Gtech Community Stadium expires in the summer of 2028.
