Warriors’ Brandin Podziemski gets interesting contract prediction that has to do with Steph Curry image
The Golden State Warriors eventually have to decide what to do with a few players' contract situations. One guy in particular is in line to get paid.
Brandin Podziemski, who is a free agent after the 2026-27 season, had a team option this year. The Warriors picked that up for $5.6 million, bringing him back for another season.
It'll be interesting to see which direction they want to go, as they could even give him money before others thought he'd get paid. According to the latest report, however, he may have to wait until 2027 for a new contract.
“Brandin Podziemski, Warriors. If the Warriors decide to go all-in on cap space, they could tell Podziemski he'll have to wait until 2027 for a new contract. That hinges on what Stephen Curry decides to do. If Curry waits on an extension, the team is set up with a massive amount of cap room.
“It would not make sense to let a Podziemski deal interfere with that. The guess here is that if Steph waits, Podz waits,” Sean Deveney wrote.
The Curry situation in Golden State is the most interesting thing to watch over the next couple of weeks to months. It's unfortunate that nothing seems close to being done on a new contract, but then again, there could be a lot going on behind the scenes that nobody hears about.
Podziemski could benefit from that, or the Warriors could look to move on from him because of that decision.
