Steelers’ Joey Porter Jr. considering trade request after Pittsburgh’s clear decision image
The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to make some questionable decisions with the possibility of moving on from Joey Porter Jr. It remains uncertain what the Steelers truly plan to do when it comes to paying him, as some have questioned whether it can happen over the next couple of days, with the season starting soon, but the Steelers don't really look like they want to do so.
According to the latest report, that hasn't made the star corner happy, and it has even led him to consider getting traded or sitting out.
"Sources say the Steelers' lack of a formal offer for weeks sent the clear message to Porter that they would like him to play out the final year of his rookie contract, which prompted him to consider the possibility of a trade or sitting out for an extended period,” Jeremy Fowler noted.
Pittsburgh has so many factors to consider on both sides of the ball over the next year or so that keeping Porter around seems like the easy decision.
However, if the Steelers struggle a ton this year and understand that they're not going to be a team that has a chance to compete in the future, not paying him would be a reasonable decision. Ultimately, a lot of this will depend on what the Steelers could get in return.
