Arsenal are reportedly in fierce competition to sign Dinamo Tbilisi youngster Tornike Kvaratskhelia, as per TEAMtalk.
After coming through Inter Academy Georgia, the 16-year-old joined the Georgian giants’ youth system earlier this year before being promoted to the senior team immediately.
He made his first-team debut in May and has been playing regularly this season. Tornike is the younger brother of Paris Saint-Germain superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that the 16-year-old’s recent development hasn’t gone unnoticed as he has started attracting a lot of attention. Arsenal are interested in Kvaratskhelia and have been keeping a close eye on his situation before making a potential swoop.
The Gunners have accelerated their recruitment of Georgian talents as they recently signed Andria Bartishvili. However, Newcastle United have also been monitoring Kvaratskhelia’s situation closely.
On the other hand, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Brighton and Hove Albion and Aston Villa have made contact regarding a possible move. Moreover, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are currently leading the Premier League interest in him.
However, the report state that Kvaratskhelia spent time training with Bayern Munich earlier this summer, and the German giants are currently the frontrunners in this race.
Kvaratskhelia to Arsenal
Premier League clubs can’t buy Kvaratskhelia before he turns 18, which will happen in 2028. So, Arsenal will have to wait to secure his services.
Like Khvicha, Tornike is a right-footed left-winger but is comfortable with his left foot. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and possesses a powerful shot.
Moreover, he works hard without possession. Kvaratskhelia is a talented player and possesses the potential to reach the top. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services by defeating other clubs in this race.
Meanwhile, Arsenal currently have Christos Tzolis as the only specialist left-wing option following Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard’s departure. But Mikel Arteta has used Eberechi Eze to support Tzolis this season.
