Liverpool consider Roma midfielder Manu Kone to be a potential future target, according to journalist David Ornstein.
Kone was linked with Manchester United and Chelsea in the last transfer window after impressing for France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
United opted to sign Carlos Baleba as their third midfield addition. Kone’s move to Chelsea reportedly fell through because Roma couldn’t find a replacement.
Liverpool like the France international, but he is not the only midfield target on their radar.
Their midfield has been underwhelming since the start of the season, raising questions over why the club did not sign a midfielder.
Manager Andoni Iraola recently downplayed the need for midfield reinforcements.
However, Iraola’s assessment looks flawed, despite Liverpool’s 2-0 victory at Ipswich Town last Friday.
The Reds were linked with AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara in the summer transfer window. They would have reportedly made a move for him if Alexis Mac Allister had left the club.
Camara was close to joining Chelsea, but Monaco pulled the plug on the deal.
They could address their midfield concerns by signing either Kone or Camara.
Kone is physically imposing, making him an ideal fit for the Premier League. He is adept at winning possession and carrying the ball.
Camara is an explosive midfielder. He can win the ball back, progress it, and is also dangerous from set pieces.
Liverpool’s new sporting director will have a say in whether the club moves for Kone or Camara.
