Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso admits he's ready to snub Kendry Paez until the January transfer window opens with the Ecuadorian seemingly not in his plans.
Paez is back at Stamford Bridge after his loan spell at River Plate was cut short last month. The club did attempt to get him off their books before transfer deadline day, but missed out on finding him a new suitor.
Paez has not played for Chelsea since completing a move from Independiente del Valle for £17.3million last summer. He was signed as a 16-year-old but ultimately never moved to England until he was 18, as per the agreement between the two sides.
Despite now being back at the club's Cobham training base Alonso insists he's not being introduced into the first-team environment, with the club's focus instead on finding a way to improve his standards, reports the Athletic.
When asked on Tuesday if he is considering using Paez before January, Alonso replied: “No, no. He is not part of the plans. At the moment, he is not part of the first team squad.”
The teenager was previously been sent on loan to Strasbourg, Chelsea's sister club, for the first half of last season. The closure of the window means that no English side can no sign Paez but options around the world remain. Mexico, Brazil and Greece are just some of the leagues that could take the player from Chelsea should they push to get the Ecuadorian off their books.
Alonso already has a host of options available to him, which means Paez was always going to find it difficult to get minutes in west London.

The Spaniard, who lost for the first time on Sunday as Chelsea were beaten at Arsenal, has quickly implemented his 3-4-3 formation, which placed unique demands on the wide players in the team. At the weekend Jorrel Hato and Pedro Neto were used as wing-backs with Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer supporting the centre forward.
Later in the game Alonso called on Estevao whilst among the unused subs were Jamie Gittens and summer signing Geovany Quenda, who could also play on the wings, underlining the depth available for the Blues.
