The Celtics have had memorable older veterans on past rosters, with Al Horford the best recent example.
However, he left in free agency last summer, which temporarily left the team without a true veteran player in their late 30s.
That changed this summer, as they signed Mike Conley, who's only younger than two other current NBA players.

Mike Conley enters next season as the third-oldest current player in the NBA, trailing just LeBron James (41) and Al Horford (40).
Conley is set to turn 39 before the start of next season and will play his first season in Boston this upcoming year.

We don't know exactly how big his role will be, but having him on the roster is great with regard to having a veteran voice in the locker room, as well as someone who can mentor the likes of other guards such as Payton Pritchard and Hugo Gonzalez.

LeBron James is set to turn 42 during this season, but he'd still need to play around four more seasons to break the record for the oldest player to appear in an NBA game, currently set by Nate Hickey (45 years, 363 days).
