Marcos Llorente scored for a third consecutive game at Anfield to give his Atletico Madrid side a 17th-minute 1-0 against Liverpool on Wednesday in the Champions League.
The versatile Spanish midfielder famously scored twice in extra time against the Reds at Anfield in the 2019/20 Champions League Round of 16, eliminating Liverpool. Days later, the world stopped due to COVID-19.
Llorente named his dog Anfield to celebrate the occasion. On his next visit to the famous English ground in 2025, the Atletico player scored two more goals. These came in a 3-2 loss thanks to a late Virgil van Dijk winner.
Half of his 10 career Champions League goals have not only come against Liverpool but at Anfield.
More to come....
