MINNEAPOLIS (KFYR) – Century High School graduate Carson Wentz will begin the regular season as the backup quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, Head Coach Kevin O’Connell announced Wednesday.
Wentz overtakes J.J. McCarthy, the team’s 2024 first-round draft pick, as second on the depth chart behind Kyler Murray.
The former North Dakota State quarterback is in his 11th season in the NFL and second with the Vikings.
Wentz threw for 188 yards, completed more than 72% of his passes and threw one touchdown in the preseason.
