Liverpool’s summer transfer business is finished, but work is already underway behind the scenes for the January window and beyond.
The Reds still have several positions to address, with right-back and midfield among the priorities for Andoni Iraola’s side. There could also be further reinforcement on the right wing, given the current imbalance in the squad.

Liverpool will also need to manage potential outgoings, with several players possibly leaving permanently or on loan in the coming months.
The club are reportedly planning a change in transfer policy, with a focus on signing “Premier League-ready players” after moving away from their previous identity.
Liverpool have spent more than £697million across the last two transfer windows, yet gaps remain in the squad. Ex- sporting director Richard Hughes, who has since joined Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, has faced increasing scrutiny over the direction of the club’s recruitment.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Liverpool now want to “get back to recruiting top Premier League-ready players” under their next sporting director.
Ornstein said: “Liverpool want to get back to recruiting top Premier League-ready players — players that some feel Liverpool got away from their identity, their style of play.”
Liverpool signed four players for their senior team including Bradley Barcola, Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo.
However, more work remains to be done in future windows, with the Reds still looking light in the forward areas and potentially at right-back.
“I’m very happy with all the signings we’ve made,” Andoni Iraola said last week. “I know the next question: ‘Do you want more signings in other positions?’
“At the end, the club has decided that those signings we have done are the ones that improved our team and our position.
“There were other options we decided not to take, for different reasons: sometimes it is sporting reasons because they don’t improve what you have, sometimes it is economical reasons as it didn’t make sense in terms of the market to do those movements.
“But I’m happy now I know what we have, I have a lot of quality in the team and now it is the moment for us, for the players, for me to develop what we have.”
