DETROIT (News 10) - There’s a whole new way to watch sports in Detroit.
Cosm Detroit, the new immersive sports and entertainment venue in Downtown Detroit’s Cadillac Square, marked its opening with a private event Wednesday night as the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots kicked off the new NFL season.

The venue is Cosm’s fourth venue in the U.S., following locations in Dallas, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
Comparable to The Sphere in Las Vegas, Cosm is quickly gaining popularity among sports fans on social media as the venue makes it feel like you’re right in the stadium. The 70,000-square-foot, three-level venue in Detroit features an 87-foot diameter 12K+ LED Dome, “wall-to-wall sportsbook-like LED displays in The Hall, and fresh air access, overlooking downtown on the rooftop Deck.”
The venue also features “lounge-like booths” and in-seat service with premium food and beverage options delivered directly to their seats.
What events are coming to Detroit?
Cosm Detroit’s first public event will be the San Francisco 49ers vs. the Los Angeles Rams in Australia on Sept. 10 at 8:30 p.m.
The first local sports team to be featured at the venue will be the Michigan football game against Oklahoma on Sept. 12.
The first Detroit Lions game to be shown at Cosm will be their season opener against the Saints on Sunday, followed by their Week 2 trip to Buffalo on Thursday, Sept. 17.
Several other Lions games will be shown throughout the season, though not every stadium has the capabilities yet for broadcasting to Cosm venues.
Cosm Detroit’s full initial slate of programming also includes movies like Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, The Matrix, and more.
