Alexis Mac Allister was the man of the moment for Liverpool against Atletico Madrid, and while he yearns for an extension, his play seemingly warranted more discussion.
Liverpool found itself down early against Atletico, with Marcos Llorente powering his side ahead in the 17th minute. Not to be outdone, Dominik Szoboszlai netted the equalizer in the 40th minute before Mac Allister scored the eventual game-winning goal 10 minutes later.
Speaking of the comeback win, Mac Allister shared how he felt about the match as a whole, while also offering insight into how contract discussions have been between him and the club as of late. It comes after manager Andoni Iraola responded to Mac Allister's frustrations.

"It was a good comeback," the star began while speaking to TNT Sports. "I think the first half was really good. We conceded a goal because we were not ready, and we did not defend well, other than it was a good first half. The beginning of the second half was really good. We managed to score the second goal, which is good.
"Overall, it was a good performance. Now we have to think about the next one. Before the game we spoke about the beginning of the first half and second half. I liked the mentality. I think we showed desire today. We got the fans behind us and that's really important when you play at Anfield. A positive step for us."
He was then asked about his current contract and whether he believed his performance helped. The Argentinian star said simply, "I don't know - we will see."

His short, sharp response comes as quite a change from when he spoke candidly about not yet having been offered a new deal by Liverpool, despite receiving offers to leave the club before the season.
"I received the news that the club was not in a position to offer me a new contract which, of course, makes me very, very sad," the 27-year-old said before the match.
"Everyone can see that I give my 100 percent for this football club every single day in training and games. Of course, I can have very good games [and] bad games, like everyone, but I always give my best.
"I see Dominik and Ryan [Gravenberch] renewing their contracts and that makes me very happy because they deserve it.

"At the same time, it makes me a little bit sad that I didn't get mine. Of course, there is still time. The fans don't need to worry because I will give my 100 percent until the last day I am here."
He added, "We won a Premier League together, we went through difficult times together and I always give my best so we will see what happens.
"I don't think I have to prove something - but I have to show the level I can perform and, hopefully, that's the case. I love this club. I love the fans. I know very well this is an amazing club and this city has something very special. I love being here.
"There were options to leave this summer. I think right now I'm in the right club and I have the right mindset to give 100 percent for this club."
