The chase has been building for months. Prescott already passed Romo as the franchise’s all-time leader in career passing yards last season, breaking the mark in Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles and finishing the year with nearly 36,000 yards for his career.
He also passed Troy Aikman for the franchise completions record during that same stretch, climbing past 2,900 for his career.

Passing touchdowns are the last major total separating Prescott from owning every significant career passing category in Cowboys history. Given his volume as a full-time starter since 2016, the wait should not stretch long.
Prescott threw 30 touchdown passes last season alone, putting five well within reach over the opening weeks of 2026.
Clearing the mark would place Prescott firmly among the names that define the Tony Romo Ring of Honor case, a career that has quietly rewritten much of the Cowboys’ record book despite his continued playoff shortcomings.
