Jayden Joseph sits down and speaks on his Leicester City journey, his ambitions, new contract and living in digs

Leicester City full-back Jayden Joseph has confirmed he is loving life at the King Power Stadium after signing a new long-term contract and revealed his ambition to reach the very top.
The 20-year-old signed a four-year deal with the Foxes until 2030 last week, committing his future to the club. Four years after moving from Manchester City at 18, Joseph has enjoyed a rapid progression through the youth ranks and is now City's first-choice right-back, scoring on his first start on the opening day of the season.
But he has no plans to stop here, with becoming Leicester's No.2 something he has always backed himself to achieve. "I'm so happy to be here, I've enjoyed my time since I've joined," he explained.
"I just want to keep enjoying my football, enjoying my time here and keep pushing on."

He added: "I always believed it within myself, so I was hoping the process went that way. I feel like it has and I just need to keep pushing and keep trying to be the best I can every day."
Joseph was born in Huddersfield before being snapped up by Manchester City at the age of five. After spending 10 years in Manchester City's academy, he moved to the Midlands.
"I was playing locally in Huddersfield and playing for a team called Deighton, where I'm from, that's probably my first memory," he said. "I just remember enjoying my football every Sunday and playing with my Dad sometimes on the days that we had free. As a kid, you're just playing football to enjoy it.
"I just took it in my stride. I got signed for City when I was five, so from then, I just took everything in my stride, just playing. Not really thinking about anything, just enjoying it and doing what I can on the pitch.

"Obviously I joined at a young age, so the fundamentals were there, I knew how to play football, but everything needs to improve. I feel like they taught me a lot there. When I came to Leicester, they also improved that. So just gradually, as the years go on, just getting better every year."
Joseph played regularly for Leicester's Under-18s and Under-21s after joining the club, making the step up to Premier League 2 in the 2023/24 season. The following campaign saw him play solely for the Under-21s, featuring in all three of their EFL Trophy group games.
That season, he played alongside Jake Evans, Louis Page, Sammy Braybrooke and Bade Aluko. He is part of a young group that has progressed through the ranks and established themselves as key members of Leicester's first team.
"It was difficult at the time because it's all taken into account, moving away from home and everything like that," he said when explaining the difficulty around the move four years ago.
"It was tough at the time, going into new environments, which I've never really done before. Like I said, I had been at City my whole life, so it was tough coming into a new place, didn't know anyone here.
"But I feel like everyone took me in so well at Leicester and it just became natural so quick. Living away from home was tough, but I feel like it got natural to me quick, because I had to get used to it, otherwise things could have gone differently.
"I was living in digs, I think there was about eight or ten of us in one house. It was obviously a big house and it was fun, some enjoyable days. We were still kids at the end of the day, so we still had fun and was messing around with each other, but it was enjoyable."

Joseph returned to Seagrave this summer after an impressive loan spell with Tranmere Rovers. The 20-year-old played 30 times in League Two but was forced to miss 12 league games in the new year due to injury, a run in which the Rovers won just once.
He returned to Merseyside in April and helped keep the club in the English Football League. "That was vital for me at the time," he said of his loan move. "I feel like that's what I needed, the next step.
"It was a tough time for Leicester at the time, so I kind of knew it would be tough for me to get minutes in the first team at that point, so I knew I had to go out and get the experience of first team [football]. It's helped me so much, realising the step up it takes to actually play first team football.
"It was so big, which I didn't realise at the time when I was at Leicester playing with the U21s. So I feel like it helped me so much, understanding the game, what the physicality of men's football is like and I feel like it's helped me a lot this season to get used to it."

He has his first goal for Leicester, is one of the first names on Russell Martin's teamsheet and has committed his future to the club. But what are his long-term ambitions? "I have goals, obviously, because we all need to have goals and little targets that we need to hit," he insists. "Inside, I've got little goals that I want to get to and hopefully in the future, reach the top.
"I just want to play as high as I can, really, be the best player I can and show everyone what I can do. Hopefully play for England one day, yeah."
