City reshaped their forward line significantly over the summer, with Savinho and Omar Marmoush departing the Etihad Stadium for Tottenham, and the likes of Iliman Ndiaye and Allan Elias arriving to freshen things up.

Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki, Phil Foden and Antoine Semenyo have all shown their quality in the opening stages of the season, culminating in Manchester City sitting at the top of the table with a perfect nine points out of nine and seven goals scored.

Even so, it appears Enzo Maresca’s side are not done in their pursuit of attacking reinforcements, having already been linked with several wide options ahead of the mid-season transfer window. One in particular will be a familiar face for Premier League fans - and even more familiar for City's new manager.

Man City and Arsenal Keen on Pedro Neto

Pedro Neto is a name who was linked with City over the summer and has now re-entered the frame. The Chelsea winger has caught the eye with his form in the opening weeks of the 2026/27 campaign - and has worked with Maresca at Stamford Bridge in the past.

According to Caught Offside, Manchester City and Arsenal have taken an interest in Neto, alongside Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. The report suggests interested parties are keeping lines open with the player’s representatives and are expected to re-establish official contact with Chelsea’s board during the winter window.

Neto is a player Liverpool are also said to admire, underlining just how coveted the Portugal international has become. Any move, however, will not come cheap, with Chelsea’s valuation of the winger believed to be somewhere between €70-80 million.

Maresca’s side are looking to add width and greater one-vs-one quality down the flanks, and the Italian reportedly appreciates Neto’s explosive power in transition as well as his tactical discipline - traits that would slot neatly into his evolving system.

What Would Pedro Neto Offer Man City?

A left-footed winger comfortable operating on either flank, Neto is best known for his rapid acceleration, close control in tight spaces and ability to create chances in wide areas.

Crucially, he is also fully accustomed to the demands of the Premier League, an increasingly valuable commodity in a market where a smooth adaptation can make or break a big-money signing.

He would face stiff competition for places at City from the likes of Ndiaye, Semenyo, Foden, Allan and Jeremy Doku.

Chelsea still appear to regard Neto as a valuable asset in their own project but are understood to be willing to listen to offers.

With Manchester City continuing to explore ways to sharpen their attack - Atletico Madrid’s Alex Baena is another to have been linked - Neto looks set to become a saga City supporters will be keeping a close eye on in the winter window.
