Everton fans are yet to see the best of Tyler Dibling since his move from Southampton, but there is more to come from the youngster.

David Moyes has suggested that Everton winger Tyler Dibling is ‘starting to come to life’, but he’s still demanding more of the youngster.
Dibling arrived at the Hill Dickinson Stadium last year with plenty of expectations, being Everton’s most expensive signing of the summer transfer window. The young star burst onto the scene at Southampton and caught the eye of many with his silky dribbling and confidence, something which we need to see more of at Everton.
Last season, Dibling struggled for game time, making just a few starts for the club in all competitions. The now-20-year-old arrived at Everton towards the end of the transfer window, meaning he missed the whole of pre-season with the Toffees.
That put him a step behind his team-mates before he even arrived in the building, while being behind Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Grealish in the pecking order was always going to make it difficult for him.
Moyes previously demanded more of the youngster, and he’s come out and done so again, adding a bit more praise than previously.

David Moyes on Tyler Dibling
Speaking ahead of Everton’s game against Bournemouth, as per the Liverpool Echo, Moyes praised Dibling for his improvement in recent weeks. The Everton boss suggests that he’s started to ‘come to life’ in some games.
“Tyler has started to show bits which have been better. He has started to come to life a little bit in some ways in a couple of the games.”
Moyes then went on to demand more from Dibling, urging him to contribute more in terms of goals and assists for Everton.
“I still would need more from him. I would need more assists, more opportunities to score from him as well. I said last week if we are going to score more goals then we need our wide players to be more creative or score goals to give us that. So Tyler needs to keep that up, but he’s certainly doing much better in the last few weeks, that’s for sure.”
It’s no surprise to see Moyes demanding more from his players. The Everton manager will be asking for more from everyone, and Dibling is someone we haven’t seen the best from yet.
Dibling’s season to shine
Players need time to settle at new clubs, especially when they are as young as Dibling. The former Southampton man appears to be an introverted character, meaning it might take him a little more time to settle than your average player.
There’s no doubting the talent. It was visible at Southampton and with the England youth sides, and it’s just about unlocking that now.
Dibling can do more himself, of course, but it’s up to Moyes to help ensure this hefty investment doesn’t go down the drain.
With Tyrique George and Jack Grealish likely Everton’s starting wingers, nobody is demanding for Dibling to start every week. Despite that, there are certainly opportunities where Dibling would be a better option than others off the bench.
Dibling now also has Brennan Johnson to compete with, and the two are completely different profiles. If we’re chasing a game against a side that are difficult to break down and sitting deep, Dibling should be your man.
At his best, Dibling can create separation from his marker and deliver into the box or get a shot off, and work in tight spaces to dribble past opponents. In contrast, Johnson is at his best when playing against sides with a higher line.
Johnson can use his pace to get in behind, being an outlet for Everton high and wide. This is more suited to protecting a lead, giving Everton a strong counter-attacking option. Where Johnson struggles is when he is forced to have a lot of the ball.
In practice, bringing on Johnson against Crystal Palace when leading made sense. Bringing on Johnson when chasing the game against Bournemouth made less sense, and someone like Dibling would have been better.
This doesn’t mean Dibling is going to be the saviour, but he has to play to develop and there are situations in which he should be receiving more minutes.
It’s up to Dibling to grab this season with both hands, but there is plenty of responsibility on Moyes to get the best out of him.
