Here is how Tottenham could line up against Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Desperate to get their first win of the Premier League season, Tottenham Hotspur welcome Everton to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening.
Despite Spurs’ vast summer expenditure, we have still not managed to trouble the scorers in our first three Premier League games this term. Defeats to Brentford and Newcastle United were followed by a goalless draw at Nottingham Forest. Roberto De Zerbi’s men failed to register even a single shot on target against Nottingham Forest and were grateful for VAR intervention, which chopped off Neco Williams’ second-half strike because of handball.
A point last weekend has finally opened Tottenham’s account for the campaign, but De Zerbi and Co. will want all three points against Everton, who head to the capital off the back of a 2-2 draw with Manchester United.
That said, here is the predicted Tottenham lineup for the upcoming league fixture vs. the Toffees.
Goalkeeper: Antonin Kinsky
Antonin Kinsky was happy to secure his first clean sheet of the season last weekend. The young goalkeeper will be keen to shut the shop as quickly as possible against Everton at the weekend.
Defence: Pedro Porro, Jan Paul van Hecke, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie
The Tottenham backline deserves credit for defending as a unit against Forest last time out. Roberto De Zerbi’s decision to pick Destiny Udogie over Andy Robertson at left-back paid dividends, with the Italian contributing massively to the clean sheet in the Midlands. Udogie will continue at left-back, with Pedro Porro a certainty on the opposite end of our defence.
The Dutch centre-back pairing of Jan Paul van Hecke and Micky van de Ven will be responsible for keeping Everton striker Thierno Barry quiet.
Midfield: Sandro Tonali, Rodrigo Bentancur, Mateus Fernandes
Sandro Tonali is slowly getting back to his top fitness levels. The Italian will partner Rodrigo Bentancur in the double pivot again, as the duo look to control the flow of the game.
James Maddison is reportedly set to be fit for the visit of Everton, although there is no way De Zerbi will want to throw him on the deep end. Conor Gallagher was ineffective vs. Forest, so we might see Mateus Fernandes reclaim the No.10 role at the weekend.
Attack: Mathys Tel, Omar Marmoush, Savio
Despite underperforming at Forest, we feel De Zerbi will stick with Mathys Tel on the left flank. However, with players slowly returning to full fitness, Tel must fix up his game or risk losing his starting berth.
Savio was Spurs’ best player against Forest, catching the eye with his dribbling, flair and movement. He is a certainty on the right flank, with Omar Marmoush expected to get the approval ahead of Dominic Solanke to lead the Tottenham attack again.
