It would be an understatement to say the 2026 offseason has been an eventful one for Jaylen Brown. Jaylen was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, went skydiving in Egypt, took on street hoopers in China, and is now making waves in Nigeria.
Jaylen followed in his father Quenton Marselles Brown’s footsteps by making his boxing debut against heavyweight Solomon Imoleayo in an exhibition bout in Nigeria.

Jaylen can be seen practicing before the fight, but he made it clear in the comments section that he hadn’t really trained.
“I did 0 prep for this,” Jaylen commented.
Now Jaylen definitely has boxing in his blood. The five-time All-Star’s father, Quenton, is a former professional boxer. He was crowned WBU World Champion in 2016 and the WBU C.A.M. Heavyweight Champion in 2015.
Jaylen’s grandfather, Willie Brown, is also a former boxer, and you might wonder why he didn’t go down that route, too. Well, the 29-year-old revealed in his press conference at All-Star weekend in February that he was going to explore the possibility after he retired.
“To be honest, I’ve toyed with this,” Jaylen said, via Celtics on CLNS. “I’ve talked to some people. Maybe post-part of my career, I would love to partake in something like UFC or even boxing. I’ve talked to Dana White about some stuff, but we’ll see as things go on. We’ll see.”
Jaylen tried his hand at boxing way earlier than planned, and it will be interesting to see if he actually enters the ring or the octagon after he retires. That’s a long way away, though.
Jaylen is currently at the peak of his powers. He averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game for the Boston Celtics in 2025-26. Jaylen finished sixth in MVP voting and made the All-NBA Second Team. It was the best season of his career and also his last in Boston.
The Celtics traded Jaylen to the 76ers for Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks. He has a chip on his shoulder now, and his mentality is to kill on the court.
While Jaylen wasn’t too happy about being traded, he does join forces with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and LeBron James on the 76ers. They are one of the title favorites now, and the 2024 Finals MVP has his eyes set on winning his second NBA championship.
