Prince William and Kate are in attendance at the Hill Dickinson Stadium today. The Prince and Princess of Wales are visiting Everton's home stadium to mark World Suicide Prevention Day to call on the sporting sector to unite behind a shared goal to prevent suicide.
Prince William is joined at the landmark event by leading figures in sport such as Dame Kelly Holmes MBE, Gabby Logan OBE, Jill Scott MBE, Sir Jason and Dame Laura Kenny. The ECHO is in attendance and will be providing you with live updates from the royal couple's visit to Merseyside.
At the event, the Prince is set to launch On Your Side: A Suicide Prevention Toolkit for People in Sport. This is described as a first-of-its-kind toolkit designed to strengthen suicide prevention across sporting environments.
The toolkit has been developed in partnership with the UK’s national standards body – the British Standards Institution – and mental health charity Chasing the Stigma. This toolkit aims to turn good intentions into everyday action by equipping people across sport with the confidence to recognise warning signs, start supportive conversations and connect individuals with help before they reach crisis point.
The event will be hosted by Gabby Logan and His Royal Highness will discuss the power of sport in supporting wellbeing and resilience. You can follow the ECHO's updates below
