Rio Ngumoha has praised the "crazy" and "special" atmosphere that Liverpool fans bring to Anfield, following another Champions League win at the famous old stadium.
European nights have become synonymous with the ground, with the Reds creating some special performances and results that have culminated in six Champions League trophy lifts. While Liverpool's most recent win over Atletico Madrid won't exactly go down in folklore, it may be viewed as the moment that Andoni Iraola announced himself on the European stage with the club.
After going a goal down, courtesy of Marcos Llorente once again, the manager made some tactical changes that helped the home side settle and find a rhythm in the game.
Dominik Szoboszlai brought parity to Liverpool just before the half-time break, while Alexis Mac Allister powered them into the lead, one that would be managed all the way to full-time to earn an important three points.
Among those to experience the comeback was Ngumoha, who was entrusted with a start on the right flank in favor of Victor Munoz, who has impressed in recent weeks.
The youngster is continuing to pick up experience, and showed plenty of promise, even if the end product wasn't there. Having played in another big match, the winger revealed how special it was to play at Anfield.
He told the official Liverpool website : "It was crazy. To be fair, I remember it last year when Virg [van Dijk] got the winner. It’s exactly the same.

“The way it roars… I’ve never heard anything like it. Anfield is special. It was a good game, good to get the three points in the first game of the Champions League. The crowd was amazing, Anfield was roaring.”
After a breakthrough campaign last time out, Ngumoha is looking to go from occasional appearances from the bench to starting more regularly, knowing exactly what he needs to do to get those starts from Iraola.
He continued: "The manager knows I’m good at attacking but to play you have to be good at defending as well, or you just have to work hard.
“That’s what he wants from me. I’m pleased that the gaffer put faith in me and I just wanted to prove to him and prove to myself that I could play at this level. It was a good game.”
It's certainly a good start for Ngumoha, with hope that he can add some end product to become a reliable option for Iraola on a regular basis.
