Jamie Carragher has called out Alexis Mac Allister for going public with his Liverpool contract frustrations and insists the Argentine is "not right" for using a press conference to air his views.
The Reds midfielder, in the lead up to their clash with Atletico Madrid, was quizzed on his future and didn't shy away from admitting he was sad that the club had not yet approach him about extending his stay at Anfield.
Mac Allister concedes that seeing fellow midfielders Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai land new deals has stung, especially given his role in the team's Premier League success of 2025.
The World Cup winner enjoyed the perfect evening off the back of those comments, scoring for the Reds as they came from behind to down Atletico at Anfield, and whilst Carragher admits he's "walked the walk" he's still not a fan of how he went about his business.
The pundit said on CBS Sports: "Mac Allister, who talked the talk yesterday and today he walked the walk. Still doesn't make what he did yesterday right in the press conference, but he'll be looked on more favourably after getting the winning goal."
Carragher has consistently bemoaned Liverpool stars who air their contract grievances through the media - expressing his disapproval when Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah did so. The Egyptian would later depart whilst Van Dijk remains on Merseyside, but is into the final year of his contract.
Mac Allister admits he had offers to leave Liverpool in the summer but was determined to remain, even if he has been frustrated by how his contract saga has played out.

He said: "Everybody can see I give my 100% for this football club every single day in training, games. Of course, I have very good games and bad games like everyone but always I give my best."
"I see Dominik and Ryan renewing their contracts and that makes me very happy because they deserve it, but at the same time it makes me a little bit sad as I didn't get mine.
"Of course there is still time. The fans don't need to worry because I will give my 100 per cent until the last day I am here. We will see what happens."
