The New England Patriots had a nightmarish start to the 2026 season on Wednesday night. New England lost 13-10 against Seattle in a game filled with multiple mistakes by QB Drake Maye. To make matters worse, star receiver A.J. Brown left the game with an injury during the second half.
Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs shared what Brown told his teammates in the locker room after such an ugly loss.
“He told us that everything was going to be all right,” Doubs said after the game, per Andrew Callahan of Boston Herald. “I’m glad he’s doing really well.”
Doubs added that New England would need “a plan” without Brown moving forward. That suggests the Patriots may be expecting Brown to miss some time with his ankle injury.
The 29-year-old wide receiver got tangled up with a Seahawks defender early in the third quarter. He stayed on the field for a few moments after suffering the injury.

Brown was reportedly in good spirits after the game, which is a positive sign. Still, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel did not give an injury update on Brown during his postgame remarks.
If Brown does miss some time, that would be terrible news for New England's offense. The Patriots struggled to move the ball after Brown left the game. In fact, it was veteran Mack Hollins who stepped up to make big plays for New England throughout the rest of the game.
Patriots fans should keep their eyes peeled for any additional update on Brown's injury status over the few days.
