Arsenal

Arsenal midfield star Declan Rice had a clash with Chelsea’s Morgan Rogers in the London derby. However, shortly after that incident Rice apologized to Rogers on the pitch, as per latest news. But on field cameras missed this particular scene and so it later came to light.

Declan Rice showed his apology to Morgan Rogers immediately after the fight

As reported by Football London, Declan Rice and Morgan Rogers had a fierce verbal conflict against each other on the pitch. The stage was set for London derby as Arsenal and Chelsea faced each at Emirates Stadium. The Blues started the match in a strong manner as Rogers himself broke the deadlock early in the game. But that was not the end of the show. One goal from Kai Havertz in the first half and another one from captain Odegaard in the second half sealed the derby win for the Gunners in the Premier League.

But one incident in the match has attracted a lot of eyes. In the 83rd minute of the match, Chelsea were trailing by one goal. Morgan Rogers was about to enter the penalty box running when Rice tripped him, which caused the Chelsea man to stumble. As a result, Cole Palmer’s pass went sideways and the chance of a equaliser vanished. The former Aston Villa midfielder was absolutely unhappy at this act. He lifted himself and started a verbal altercation with Rice. The situation became worse when referee Chris Kavanagh showed the Blues player a yellow card instead, probably missing the pushing scene.

Four minutes later, Rogers was substituted by Danny Welbeck. Online footage has been circulated which suggests that while the 24-year-old was leaving the field, Rice tried to express his regret for that incident. But Rogers completely ignored his England teammate’s apology and he went away shaking his head.

What did Morgan Rogers say about the London derby?

In the summer transfer window, the English midfielder had a deal agreed with Arsenal. But their arch rivals, Chelsea overtook them and signed him for £117m, according to Transfermarkt. He has very well adapted to Chelsea’s brand of football quickly. But while he was going to the Chelsea bench, he faced a chant which says, “You should have signed for a big club.”

In the post match interview, the Blues midfielder said, “We never gave in. We went toe-to-toe with them physically, mentally being switched on and being so focused. That’s the most difficult thing with coming here and playing Arsenal. They’re so physically demanding it’s tough to play against them, but we matched them in that element. Probably a bit of quality in and around the box where they scored two and we didn’t and I think ultimately you could be looking at a different game, but there’s other things that we can work.”
