Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and the rest of the Premier League have discovered what their festive fixture list will look like following an announcement from the top-flight's governing body. United are among the clubs that pushed for the Premier League to release the Christmas broadcast schedule a month earlier than last season.
The Football Supporters' Association has played a role in those discussions, with the Daily Mail, claiming United officials held talks with the Premier League and broadcasters to emphasise the importance of putting supporters first, pressing for December's fixture decisions to be confirmed well ahead of time. The goal was to make travel arrangements more straightforward for fans hoping to attend matches.
As a result, the Premier League have now revealed those fixtures well in advance, with seven Premier League matches on Boxing Day this season, compared to just one game last season. There will also be at least a 60-hour break between games over the Christmas and New Year period.
A statement from the Premier League said: "This is in keeping with commitments made to clubs to address the congested festive schedule - in the context of an expanding European and international fixture calendar. Broadcast selections for match rounds in November are due to be announced by week commencing 21 September 2026 and match rounds in December will be announced by week commencing 19 October 2026."
