The New England Patriots suffered a brutal season-opening loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday. A combination of a fourth-quarter collapse, A.J. Brown's ankle injury, and Drake Maye's three interceptions led to a 13-10 defeat.
The Patriots led 10-0 before the collapse.
Boston-based sports personality Bill Simmons was in mourning as he assessed the loss on his Bill Simmons podcast. His post on X, formerly Twitter, said it all:

But that certainly didn't stop his staunchest critics from pouring salt on the wound via social media, the worst place imaginable.
“Bill Simmons about to do a 3 hit pod on the state of QB play instead of just admitting Drake is overrated.
I see him making a lot of the same mistakes with respect to playing in rhythm and decision making Caleb was making.” @Burlydee posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Another user questioned the intentions of Simmons in terms of who's to blame.
“Weird, Bill Simmons told me it was 1 guy” @samthenorwegian posted.
Then, someone else chimed in by referring to Simmons ranking Maye over Lamar Jackson at one point.
“Bill Simmons said he rather have him over Lamar Jackson and had him 4th best quarterback lol” @liilkimy posted on X.
Last night's game was a rematch of this past year's Super Bowl, where the Seahawks defeated the Patriots 29-13.
The Patriots will play their home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Sept. 13 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
