The Seattle Seahawks proved Wednesday night that they remain the class of the NFC West, with the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers not far behind. With the Rams, Seahawks and 49ers set to be among the conference’s best teams, the division should remain the NFL’s best in 2026.
The NFC West featured three teams that finished with the best records in the NFL last season, with Seattle ultimately winning the bloodbath en route to its second Super Bowl title. Between the Seahawks, Rams and 49ers, they finished with a combined 38-13 record last season. The AFC East and AFC South were the only other divisions that featured multiple 12-win teams.
But the NFC West had three. THREE! What a truly insane feat, yet one that’s incredibly on brand for the division over the last decade.
Since 2016, the NFC West has the [third-best record by division](https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/best-record-by-division-since-2016) at 343-315-3, just behind the NFC North (344-311-5) and AFC West (346-314). Of those three divisions, only the two West divisions feature multiple Super Bowl champions.
The Chiefs won titles in 2019, 2022 and 2023, while the Rams won during the 2021 season and the Seahawks last season. Despite several great Packers teams quarterbacked by Aaron Rodgers and a few solid Vikings, Lions and Bears campaigns sprinkled in there, no NFC North team made a Super Bowl appearance in that span. In fact, the last appearance by the division came during the 2010 season when Green Bay brought the Lombardi Trophy back home — sorry cheeseheads!
Every NFC West team (besides the Cardinals) has made at least one Super Bowl appearance in the last decade. The Rams and 49ers each appeared twice, while the Seahawks obviously made the most of their lone trip in 2025. That equates to all of Kansas City’s trips during their run of dominance, excluding last year:
Eight times in the last decade, divisions have fielded three playoff teams. The NFC West (2021 and 2025) and AFC North (2020 and 2023) are the only two that have done it twice. When teams make the playoffs from the division, they have certainly earned it.
So, it should come as no surprise that the three teams with the highest odds of winning the Super Bowl in February reside in the NFC West. [According to FanDuel Sportsbook](https://sportsbook.fanduel.com/navigation/nfl?tab=super-bowl), the three division playoff teams from last season are in the top 10 for odds to win the big game, beginning with the Rams at +550 (first), Seahawks at +1100 (third) and 49ers at +1800 (tied for eighth). That is truly a remarkable feat.
As long as the Rams, Seahawks and 49ers remain competitive, there is truly no better division in the NFL than the NFC West. If things play out similarly to 2025, the Super Bowl could very well run through the division yet again this season.
