Angel Reese Silences Haters With 3 Words After Making WNBA History

Team USA made another major statement at the FIBA World Cup quarterfinals with a commanding 108-56 victory over Hungary on Thursday.
For the record, the 108 points were the most scored by a team in a quarterfinal game at the Women’s World Cup.
Every player on the roster contributed to the win, powered by Team USA’s bench and led by Caitlin Clark and, of course, Angel Reese.
The three-time WNBA All-Star despite coming off the bench, continues to be an integral part of the team thanks to her defensive tenacity and rebounding, which have made her such a force for the Atlanta Dream throughout the season.
Following Team USA’s dominant win, Reese discussed the mindset she brings into every game.
“Honestly, the mindset I bring every game is to be able to come out there, get deflections, get rebounds, get blocks, get steals,” Reese said in her on-court interview.
“I know I’m getting defensive player of the year for a reason; I just wanna go out there and prove it,” she concluded.

The Dream star has continued to be an impact player throughout the 2026 season, and it’s no different for Team USA as it continues its quest to win 5th FIBA World Cup title.
Against Hungary, she made her presence felt all across the game, recording nine points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block.
She continues to be impactful on the glass, including pulling down a total of 24 rebounds during the group stage and the quarterfinals. In the three group stage games, Reese averaged 8.7 points and 6 rebounds.
As a result, she remains a favorite to take home the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year award. It’s worth noting that Reese won the 2025 Unrivaled DPOY award during the league’s inaugural 3-on-3 season.
The 24-year-old guard recently revealed the connection she shares with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, both of whom have been impactful contributors for Team USA.
“We played against each other so many times. So, I’m sure we know each other’s game like the back of each other’s hand … So it’s fun. We continue to build chemistry because we know we’re going to be USA teammates for a while.”
Team USA will look to continue its winning ways in the FIBA World Cup as it awaits a match against the winner of Spain and Australia.
