Steelers Falcons Thursday Injury Report
Steelers Falcons Thursday Injury Report
The Atlanta Falcons released their injury report ahead of their Week 1 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers for their second day of practice, and one notable addition was QB Tua Tagovailoa. Named the Falcons’ Week 1 starter earlier this week, Tagovailoa was listed as a limited participant after suffering an oblique injury.
Tagovailoa reportedly appeared to grab at his back and briefly go to the ground during the media viewing portion of practice. He missed time during training camp with back spasms, but listed with an oblique it doesn’t appear he re-aggravated that injury. Reggie Chatman Jr. of 11AliveNews posted a video of Tagovailoa going down with his injury.

QB Michael Penix Jr. will be inactive despite practicing in full each of the last two days as he recovers from a knee injury last season.
The Falcons also added OT Jawaan Taylor to the injury report with a knee injury. The team’s starting right tackle, Taylor would be tasked with blocking T.J. Watt if he plays. His status will be worth watching.
The Falcons’ team website posted their injury report.

The other notable news for Atlanta was DE Za’Darius Smith not practicing today. He logged a limited practice on Wednesday but did not practice today. The Falcons are already down their two starting EDGE rushers with Jalon Walker out for the season and James Pearce Jr. suspended, so that’s a particularly thin area for the team.
But the big names to watch ahead of Sunday will be Tagovailoa and Taylor, and if both can’t play, the Falcons could be in trouble at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday.
