Netflix's first game of the 2026 NFL season has been a miss for fans so far.
The San Francisco 49ers' clash against the Los Angeles Rams in Australia, to start the 2026 season for the streaming giant, was meant to be a celebration of yet another NFL season. However, it didn't take long for fans to notice several issues that plagued Netflix what would have been a highly anticipated game.
On social media, fans took to X to express their disappointment with the audio and visual issues they experienced while streaming the game, following another aspect of Netflix's broadcast that received mixed reviews, with Elle Duncan as the main target.
Fans noted that the crowd noise was less than ideal, with the crowd in Australia seemingly sounding muted or nonexistent. One fan wrote, "Why is the audio quality of this Rams/Niners game on Netflix telecast so a--?"
Others were not fans of how the game was presented, with a number claiming that the stream looked like a video game because of how odd Netflix's visuals were. "@netflix the audio on the game sucks. Does anyone else have this problem. Just sounds like I’m watching an old school video game," a spectator wrote.
A number of fans also noted a suboptimal viewing experience, with one posting, "Video stream is so bad I can’t even see the difference between the two teams, everything is so blurry."

Another wrote, "Is it just me or does the quality of the stream of the NFL game on Netflix suck? I have two huge super HD TVs and the fastest internet money can buy, and I can’t get a clear picture…. Netflix has had live streaming issues in the past too, this quality sucks! #NFL #netflix."
What's more, some fans even wrote on social media that they were experiencing issues just opening the app to watch the game.
That said, a number of fans also stated that they had no issues with the Netflix broadcast, highlighting how varied each user's experience was as they attempted to watch the game.
