Barcelona are planning to open talks with Raphinha over a new contract at the Camp Nou.

The Brazilian was once again linked with a summer exit but stayed on and has started the season in fantastic form.

Deco has spoken about Raphinha’s future and says he wants to keep him at the club.

“We always keep a close eye on our players to keep track of their contracts,” he told RAC1.

“There’s also a meritocratic aspect to it. We don’t want imbalances, we don’t want one player below the other, to avoid problems. He’s one of the players we want to keep for another year. We’ll talk to him.”

Raphinha is the club captain this season and Deco think he fully deserves to wear the armband.

“The captaincy is a well-deserved honor. Every player has their pride, their personal pride. Being captain of Barça is a dream,” he addded.

“Raphinha has built his career in the locker room, at the club; you don’t just leave overnight. He’s happy here. Flick has always gotten the best out of him.”

Raphinha’s current contract runs until 2028 and he’s previously said “his dream” is to be at Barcelona for the rest of his career.
