Chicago Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards (53) tackles San Francisco 49ers tight end Jake Tonges (88) in the second half at Levi's Stadium.
The injury bug just can't stop biting the San Francisco 49ers. In their season-opening game alone against the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia, the Niners have already seen multiple players exit the game with apparent injuries.
One of them is tight end Jake Tonges, who went down hurt in the second quarter. He had to be helped off the field. He later had to be carted into the locker room with a knee injury, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.
Tonges is questionable to return to the game at the time of this writing, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
This is tough news for the 49ers, who will have to rely more on George Kittle for their tight end needs while Tonges is out.

Question 1 of 4
Which player has the most receiving yards in a single game in NFL history?
San Francisco had quite a saga with Kittle's injury status during the offseason, and it wasn't until very close to kickoff of the Rams game that it was confirmed he would see action in Australia. Now, the 49ers are dealing with yet another injury concerning a tight end.
The 27-year-old Tonges is in his third season with the 49ers, who signed him to a two-year, $8 million contract extension in March.
In addition to Tonges, the 49ers also lost De'Zhaun Stribling to injury. The rookie wide receiver left the Rams game in the first half with a reported non-contact injury. Stribling was initially labeled questionable to return but was later ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
Tonges and Stribling combined for zero catches against the Rams.
