Myles Garrett wasn't happy with his performance following his Los Angeles Rams debut in their 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia on Thursday night.
Garrett started the 10th year of his career, his first with the Rams. He joined the team after Los Angeles landed him from the Cleveland Browns for Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick.
Garrett shines as one of the best pass rushers in the entire league, having won Defensive Player of the Year twice in 2023 and 2025. He now pairs up with Aaron Donald on defense, as the latter came out of retirement this offseason.
However, his team debut didn't go according to plan. He failed to record a single tackle in the game, addressing his physical condition after the game, per reporter Nate Atkins.
“This was the worst version of myself,” Garrett said.
“Asked his No. 1 goal heading into Week 2,” Atkins mentioned.
“Get healthy,” Garrett replied.

Myle Garrett and the Rams have some self-reflecting to do after losing to the 49ers. They may have Super Bowl expectations, but they need to perform up to the level of Super Bowl contenders to make that case.
Los Angeles took a 7-3 lead in the second quarter after Kyren Williams scored the first touchdown of the game. It was all San Francisco from there on, scoring 24 unanswered points to coast to victory in the Land Down Under.
Matthew Stafford, who won MVP last season, struggled in the opener. He only completed 15 out of 25 passes for 155 yards and an interception. Kyren Williams was a bright spot with 11 rushes for 41 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Puka Nacua caught five passes for 74 yards.
The Rams will look to bounce back as they return home from Australia for their Week 2 matchup. They take on the New York Giants as kickoff commences on Sept. 21 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
