Hull City have received a double injury boost ahead of Saturday’s Premier League trip to Chelsea.
Sergej Jakirovic’s side arrive at Stamford Bridge unbeaten in the league and are now set to have both Paddy McNair and Brooke Norton-Cuffy available.
McNair missed Tuesday’s Carabao Cup defeat to Sunderland with a foot problem, but scans have ruled out a significant injury.
RotoWire reports McNair has been cleared to face Chelsea after returning to training, strengthening Jakirovic’s defensive options before a difficult trip to west London.
Norton-Cuffy has also been passed fit.
The former Arsenal defender missed the Sunderland game with a calf issue, having only recently joined Hull.
However, a scan has now confirmed Norton-Cuffy has avoided a serious problem and is available against Chelsea.
John Egan remains Hull fitness concern
There is slightly more uncertainty around John Egan.
The centre-back picked up a lower-leg problem following a collision against Sunderland, although he was able to finish the match.
Jakirovic indicated after the game that the injury was not expected to be serious, but Egan still requires monitoring before Saturday.
His availability would be significant.
Egan has played every minute of Hull’s opening three Premier League matches, helping the promoted side keep three consecutive clean sheets.
That defensive record makes Hull a very different challenge to Leeds United.
Chelsea scored six in Wednesday’s extraordinary cup tie, with ReadChelsea’s Chelsea 6-3 Leeds report detailing the remarkable second-half turnaround.
Xabi Alonso nevertheless has fitness issues of his own.
