Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has shared an injury update on Luke Shaw ahead of their huge clash against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
Shaw enjoyed an injury-free 2025-2026 season, but he was substituted against Everton in the second half last weekend.
The English left-back was then left out of United's Champions League squad on Thursday evening, leading to question marks surrounding his fitness.
Patrick Dorgu started in his place on the left-hand side of defence, producing a strong performance against Sabah, which saw him produce an assist.
With United facing their Manchester rivals City on Sunday, the supporters at Old Trafford may have been sweating, not seeing Shaw in the squad.
The performance of Dorgu may have eased fans' concerns slightly, although you have to take into account the quality of the opposition.
Speaking to TNT Sports before United's game against Sabah, United boss Carrick provided an update on Shaw's fitness.
Carrick confirmed that he came off against Everton with cramp, and United didn't want to take any risks with him.
"It's a little bit of that [managing him]. He came off the other day [at Everton] with a little bit of cramp. We didn't want to take any risks really. We tried to manage him so we will see how he is after this one."
Thankfully for United, the injury doesn't appear to be a serious one for Shaw.
His fitness struggles may be a concern after so many years of injury woes, despite the anomaly of last season.
Hopefully, for United, Shaw will be back fit and available for the clash against City.

United were heavily linked with a fullback throughout the whole summer transfer window, even in the final hours of deadline day.
Despite that, the Red Devils failed to bring one in, leaving them with just Shaw and Dorgu as their options, plus youngster Harry Amass.
Although Dorgu is a reasonable option on the left-hand side of defence, his start against Sabah was his first in the position under Carrick.
The United manager clearly favours Shaw, and it will be no surprise to see him in the starting eleven against City.
